About this tour

Created by enslaved Africans as a fight disguised as dance, capoeira has been Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2014 — and Pelourinho is its home.

In this experience, a capoeira master tells the story of the art, teaches the basic ginga moves and the rhythms of the berimbau, pandeiro and atabaque drum. At the end, everyone joins the roda. No experience needed: it is for all ages and fitness levels.

Wear comfortable clothes (track pants or shorts) — the class is barefoot. Suitable from age 6.
